Pavements Belong to Pedestrians

Pavements are one of the supporting traffic facilities especially designed and provide for pedestrians. It is known that the pavement is intended for pedestrians. Pavements do not only protect pedestrians from vehicles but also provide a comfortable range of motion. however, the rights of pedestrians are often ignored.
The pavement at the back gate of Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta, for example, is now full of street vendors. Even the customers' motorcycles are also parked at the pavement. many times, some cars even also climbed to the pavement.
Recently, the authorities made a policy to widened the pavement. The pavement widening is not necessary because it will only attract more street vendors to come and misuse the pavement which will only disturb pedestrians. The pedestrians can not pass the pavement because it has been occupied by the street vendors and the motorcycles being parked there.
In this case, those who regulate and manage the pavement must give a warning to the trespassers (street vendors and motorcycles that parked at the pavement). Give sanctions or fines to them. Thus, pavements will not be misused by irresponsible people.
