Syifauddin: Autodidact to an Expert in Graphic Design

Muhammad Syifauddin Amin, one of the professional graphic designers in Kudus. He is an undergraduate of the Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) in Kudus. He is known in the community by the nickname of the Syifak or familiarly called Mas Cimbung. He is also a well-known graphic designer with timeliness in finishing customer order designs.

The epithet is very suitable with his work that always on time. Syifak always completes customer order designs the day before the agreed day. Furthermore, he always communicates with customers about design details before and during the design process so that customers are satisfied with his work.

Before Syifak opened graphic design services, initially he was interested in computers and things in them. When he was in middle school, for the first time he was bought a computer by his father. At that time, he had already learned how to fix an expire cellphone and he had repaired it. Moreover, he used to be a hacker. However, after he knew his actions were not good he stopped being a hacker and learned other things that were more useful and positive. He did all that by autodidact and only with computers and the internet network.

When Syifak graduated from high school, he learned that graphic design would be very beneficial. So, he decided to focus on graphic design. He learned autodidact how to become a graphic designer by watching YouTube channels about graphic design. Then, he installs Photoshop, CorelDraw, and other support applications for graphic design. He studied graphic design and was able to master it for only 6 months. At that time, he had received many graphic design orders.

He felt that he did not have enough knowledge that he learned by himself; he worked as a graphic designer at one of the large graphic design services in Kudus named Goldman. Not only that, he also took a graphic design course. But, he was unexpectedly appointed by the place of course to be an instructor in teaching other participants and be paid the same as other professional instructors.

 “Learn about something whatever makes you interested until you fall in love with what you learn. I make sure the things you pursue will be useful in your life later”.
