Mr. Suroto is a 52 year-old entrepreneur who built the first restaurant called Resto Kemuning in 2007. From a staff in a plantation, he turned out to be an entrepreneur.
In 1987, precisely when he graduated from Sekolah Menengah Teknologi Pertanian Boyolali, he worked as a staff in a plantation. He moved his workplace very often from Boyolali, Sumatra, Kalimantan and even Bandung because that was how a staff in a plantation worked. In such a young age, he had to work very hard to make his parents proud of him because he was the only child that could make money.
In 1993, he married to Sundanese woman and moved to Kemuning in 1999 with their 5 year-old daughter. In Kemuning, he was appointed as a leader in a tea plantation. Besides his position as a leader, he was also a bird hunter. He started his hobby, bird hunting in 1999 and he got many rewards from that. In 2001 he was tired with all the bird hunting stuff and he had a new hobby, fishing.
He didn't expect to be an entrepreneur. It was started from 2001 when he found his new hobby. In 2005 he began his urge to develop his hobby to something bigger and beneficial, fishing place. In 2007, he developed his fishing place into the first restaurant in Kemuning with fish as the specialty called Resto Kemuning. 3 years passed by and he did not expect that the amount of consumers was increased. So, he decided to quit his job as a leader in a tea plantation and started his new job as an entrepreneur. From his current job, he become one of the good influence for the economic matters in Kemuning.
"Become an entrepreneur is a tiring job but exciting. There are a lot of challenges yet delightful." That is how his feeling become an entrepreneur. He also shares some message for those who want to be entrepreneurs. He said that we should have mission, we have to persistent, we should also have commitment and we should not desperate to catch our dream.
